Every couple has a unique vision for their wedding day. But there’s always at least one element that’s at the center of their vision. That usually serves as the starting point when it comes to designing a wedding!

While some couples prefer to use their favourite wedding bouquet style as the focal piece of their wedding design, others like to use the backdrop.

Wylie and Christopher chose to do just that for their Kurtz Orchard Marketplace wedding! And I was so excited to join their wedding team as the designer and event manager.

Kurtz Orchard is a breathtaking wedding venue in the Niagara on The Lake Region. With stunning orchards and ample amounts of greenery and space for photography, it served as the perfect focal point for Wylie and Christopher.

The Vision Behind Wylie and Christopher’s Kurtz Orchard Marketplace Wedding

Two crucial elements needed to be met to fulfill Wylie and Christopher’s wedding day vision.

The first was that the couple wanted the atmosphere to be family and friend-oriented. They wanted a more relaxing space that kept their guests feeling comfortable all night long!

The second was that they wanted to use their wedding venue as the focal point for the rest of their wedding design pieces! Rather than transforming a space, they wanted to use the space for what it was.

Why was the Kurtz Orchard Marketplace Wedding Venue a Must for the Day?

Kurtz Orchard Marketplace made for the perfect wedding venue for Wylie and Christopher’s first priority: making sure their family and friends were comfortable.

The Niagara on the Lake wedding venue serves as the perfect spot to do so. With both indoor and outdoor spaces, guests could come and go as they pleased. Plus, it had a built in backup plan in case of inclement weather!

And, of course, it made my wedding designer heart happy because both the Marketplace and Gracewood Estates at Kurtz Orchard are two of my favourite wedding venues to work with! I always feel so inspired any time I step foot on their property. And that surely helped in creating the design for Wylie and Christopher!

Managing Unexpected Weather Challenges

With any outdoor wedding, no matter the season, there is an inherent risk of weather not cooperating.

The great news is that we had plenty of backup plans in place, in case the weather decided to strike.

For Wylie and Christopher’s day, that was almost the case! 15 minutes before the ceremony started, we had to decide if we were moving inside due to tornado-like winds that whipped through so quickly just before the “I dos”.

Without a wedding planner, many couples have to face this decision alone. The venue or other vendors are approaching them with questions that can keep them so overwhelmed on the day. But, Wylie and Christopher trusted me to make this call on their behalf. I was able to be the voice of reason and comfort for the two of them. I took 5 minutes to collect my thoughts and strategize, and then we continued to move forward.

At the end of the ceremony, the couple even said, “How did you wave your magic wand and still make sure we had our ceremony outside?”

Having a wedding planner on the wedding day is an excellent way to reduce the worry and stress that would inevitably fall on the couple’s shoulders!

I’m so thankful that Wylie and Christopher invested in LPE’s services so they could be present in the moment, without having to stress about the weather.

My Favourite Part of Wylie and Christopher’s Wedding at Kurtz Orchard Marketplace

There is nothing quite like a petal toss just after the bride and groom are officially married! That was my personal favourite part of their incredible wedding day!

Before the ceremony, my team and I placed small packets of rose petals on each seat for the guests. Once Wylie and Christopher were married, the guests participated in the petal toss to congratulate them as they exited as a newly married couple!

You can feel the joy on their faces and from the guests in their wedding photographs! Loverly Weddings captured this moment perfectly, and allows you to relive that joyful moment between the couple.

Having a hand in designing and managing their wedding day makes those special moments even more incredible!
