COLOURFUL MODERN WEDDING AT THE BARN AT CAVE SPRING VINEYARD

Lindsay Plank Events was honoured to provide my signature Full Planning and Design service for Abbey and Jamie’s wedding at The Barns at Cave Spring Vineyard! This intimate, 35-guest affair incorporated the couple’s love of chess into an elegant event featuring colourful, modern florals.

Abbey and Jamie traveled all the way from Australia to tie the knot in Niagara-on-the-Lake, and they have the most incredible love story. They met when they were early teens while playing online chess and struck up a long-distance relationship. Abbey lived in Australia, and Jamie lived in Buffalo, NY. They traveled the world together, and eventually, Jamie joined Abbey and her family Down Under!

Although the couple now reside in Australia, after getting engaged, they knew they wanted to have their wedding near Jamie’s hometown so that his dad could attend. They reached out to me on Christmas Eve 2022, and I felt instantly drawn to their story and love for each other! We got to work planning their wedding at The Barns at Cave Spring Vineyard, and I couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out. This wedding was one of LPE’s favourite of 2023, so don’t miss it!

Full Planning and Design at The Barns at Cave Spring Vineyard

As Abbey and Jamie’s full-service wedding planner and designer, I helped them pull together every aspect of their wedding day. I helped them choose the perfect venue, The Barns at Cave Spring Vineyard, from the other side of the world. Next, I helped them build a team of talented and reliable vendors whom I had worked with before and trusted! Abbey and Jamie placed their complete faith in me to plan their wedding day—they didn’t even visit Canada until their wedding week! I was honoured by their trust, which allowed me to pour all my talents into making their wedding day a one-of-a-kind expression of their love story.

For the couple’s wedding design, I facilitated the perfect balance between their tastes. Abbey loves bold, modern colours, while Jamie wanted to pull masculine elements into the day with crisp black-and-white details. To balance the two, I partnered with the floral designer at Threads & Blooms to dream up vibrant organic floral arrangements to pair with the elegant, masculine-leaning tabletop rentals from Simply Beautiful Décor. Pink, coral, and orange arrangements of roses and dahlias contrasted with black and white linens, black cutlery, and black taper candles on the tabletops for a uniquely modern feel.

A Niagara-on-the-Lake Wedding with Chess-Themed Details

Of course, the day wouldn’t have been complete without chess-themed details referencing how Abbey and Jamie met! To subtly incorporate their favourite hobby into the day, we named each table after a chess piece (the sweetheart table was called “Checkmate”!). In addition, Brittany Williams incorporated chess pieces into the couple’s flatlay photos featuring bold blooms and their elegant, black-and-white invitation suite by Graphically Yours.

The Barns at Cave Spring Vineyard was also integral to the couple’s wedding vision, with a unique outdoor-meets-indoor feel. We lifted the garage door at the back of the barn behind the sweetheart table so the couple and their guests could enjoy the mild September weather and a gorgeous vineyard view! Natural light filled the space, and as the evening progressed, the space took on a cozy feeling as the candles and greenery-adorned chandelier flickered in the light of sunset. It was a quintessential Niagara-on-the-Lake wedding!

I couldn’t be happier that Abbey and Jamie trusted me to plan their wedding at The Barns at Cave Spring Vineyard! Thinking about this day still makes me emotional—the love in the air, the couple’s unique story, and the beautiful design were everything.
