BOLD AND BRIGHT WILDFLOWER WEDDING IN THE BALL’S FALLS BARN
Erica and Evan’s July wedding in the Ball’s Falls Barn was one of my favourites from the 2023 season! I provided Design and Event Management services to help them realize their vision of a boldly colourful wedding inspired by the summer wildflowers.
This couple was so wonderful to work with, trusting me to create their vision from start to finish. The floral elements of the day were the most critical piece of the elevated look we achieved in the Ball’s Falls Barn! Erica and Evan took my advice to work with one of the top Guelph wedding florists, Forever Wildfield, and her work didn’t disappoint.
Statement Florals Above the Head Table
One of the best floral elements of the day was the statement installation we hung above the U-shaped head table where the couple and their wedding party sat. It elevated the table and the entire barn space! With a mix of lush greenery and colourful flowers, it showcased the beautiful tablescape and the view outside the open barn doors, with the chapel where the couple got married visible in the distance.
I love to design a statement head table because it forms the backdrop for most of your reception photos! When your photographer captures your reactions during the speeches or steals snaps of an intimate moment between you and your partner, the head table is center stage. Moreover, in most venue layouts, it’s also the backdrop for your first dance. Some of my favourite shots from Erica and Evan’s wedding are from their reception because of the beautiful installation we planned with Alex of Forever Wildfield!
Bold Colourful Wedding in the Ball’s Falls Barn
After Erica and Evan’s intimate ceremony in the Ball’s Falls Historical Chapel, their guests enjoyed cocktail hour outside, complete with live acoustic music and an airstream mobile bar. Then, it was time for the reception inside the Big Barn!
We designed a family-style reception with long harvest tables to encourage a warm, inviting atmosphere and conversation during the meal. Flowers in bold shades of pink, blue, orange, and yellow elevated the tablescapes throughout the space, joined by trending ikebana vases and tapered candles. Meanwhile, bistro lights hung from the barn rafters over the tables and dance floor. It was the perfect setting for a romantic summer evening, with a touch of whimsy from the flowers.
I’m so grateful that Erica and Evan trusted me to design their wedding in the Ball’s Falls Barn! They were the sweetest couple, and I loved getting to know them. Working with bold colours to create their vision was also just what my design-loving heart needed! With bold and bright hues trending in 2024, I can’t wait to work with palettes like this one more.
