WHAT’S IN MY WEDDING DAY EMERGENCY KIT?

The job of a wedding planner has a lot of moving elements, including sourcing a venue, designing your overall vision for your day, and figuring out what kind of dinner and cocktail menu you’d like to provide to your guests. A wedding planner’s job is never over.

No matter if you’ve been in business for 5 years or 20 years, the unexpected can happen, and when it does, you need to be prepared for those last minute wedding day emergencies. Having the supplies on-hand to tackle problems is just another element to a wedding planner’s job.

Items Included:

  1. Facial blotting papers — to help all those shiny faces during those hot and steamy summer days. Even if you’ve had your makeup done professionally, shine can still happen, especially if you’re tying the knot on a hot day! Try to resist the urge to use a tissue as you might remove the make-up and leave your face looking uneven. It’s perfect for a quick touch up before your photos.

  2. Anti-static spray — no one wants their skirt or dress clinging to their skin, this can cause issues within photos and be uncomfortable for everyone. With chiffon dresses being so popular, especially with bridesmaids gowns, you don’t want that static cling.

  3. Flexible Lighter — because most weddings are filled with mood-producing pillar and votive candles. You want to ensure you can reach the wicks within any style of vase, votive, or even to get those tall tapered candles.

  4. Faux Rings — this is an emergency that happens more often than not. I keep two inexpensive rings in my kit in case someone panics! You can find many options here.

  5. Tylenol vs. Advil — since these are not interchangeable, I keep both options on hand. Tylenol should not be combined with alcohol, and if your wedding is like every other, it will include plenty of alcohol. Be sure to check for allergies prior to handing any medication out, and also never remove them from the labelled bottle.

  6. Bobby Pins — this item tends to be overlooked. This is probably one of the most used items within my kit. Be sure to to get different sizes and different colours. I am a fan of these bobby pins that are available in many different shades of colours.

  7. Double-Sided Fashion Tape — you definitely don’t want a wardrobe malfunction on your wedding day. Double-sided tape is an essential in every wedding planners emergency kit. Not only is this used in addition to securing your wedding dress or bra straps in place. This can also be used to fix bridesmaid’s unstitched hemline, close a gap between buttons on groom’s shirt, and even stop that pesky gap between your chest and gown on your neckline of your dress.

  8. Sewing Kit — have you ever had to sew a bride into her dress? Well, I have. Moments before walking down the aisle, her zipper decided to have other plans, and popped right open! Luckily, I had a small sewing kit on hand that comes with needles, mini scissors, extra buttons, and thread in neutral colours. This is even helpful on groom’s suits, when they leave the tails of their suits sown together.

  9. Stain Remover Pen — spills are going to happen and if something accidentally lands on your wedding dress, you’ll be relieved to know I have a ‘Tide To Go Pen’ in my kit. Carefully blot the stain with a clean cloth. Be gentle, your wedding dress fabric is delicate. Once it drys, spot-treat the area with this Tide To Go pen. If your stain decides to be stubborn, try dabbing baking soda, baby powder, or white chalk onto the fabric.

  10. Spray Deodorant — this is a way to feel refreshed after spending the last hour outside in the baking sun taking photos. Everyone wants to feel refreshed prior to entering into the reception. Spray deodorant is perfect for sharing!
